Sometimes, I really do try to prevent myself from doing crazy, crazy things. I really do.

But today, my WonderTwin and Jessica were around, and they wanted to go to Black Bean and to Staples, and I’ve had the giant old P992 on my desk, and I had enough money. So I went ahead and made the investment in a new monitor that works absolutely great with the server, as well as with flatdell, and if I get the DVI adapter, or am willing to use VGA, will work great with the iMac. I’ve got it set up right now with flatdell and the server. It’s great being able to switch back and forth between the two systems at the press of a button.

Height-adjustability and rotatability are super nice. I’m really not sure how often I’ll rotate the display, but it’s great to know that I can in case I need to. I can see it coming in handy a lot during november when I’m switching back and forth between all of my machines to write the novel. FlatDell will be a favorite for NaNoWriMo, because of the portrait mode.

Much as I hate to say it, this monitor has definitely made Flatdell a more viable option as my main computer, especially now that the iMac is nearing two years old. Somewhat terrifying but interesting.

Well, I’ve had my first weekend of the semester. I managed to sleep in until noon, and more importantly, I got a few things cleaned up and finalized in the room. I moved the dresser over by the bed so I can climb up onto it to get to bed, and I got some more of my critical things unpacked and put into their places.

The room, I’ve got to say, is completely epic. Here’s a photo, in case you’re interested.

I went out today and very nearly bought a Dell UltraSharp 1908WFP, but I decided to go ahead and leave that for later, especially because I’m only doing communication and productivity work on either the U60 or the flatdell, both of which are the systems hooked up to that monitor. Eventually I may try re-calibrating it, although I’m really not sure how well it can hold its calibration.

Also, I’ve finally actually seen The Simpsons Movie. I bought it in the bargain bin at Hastings for like $2 or 3. It’s probably the best cheap bargain bin movie I’ve ever bought. It plays perfectly, it looks amazing on the 19″ trin hooked up to the Dell, and I’ve got to admit, it’s got a lot of re-watch value for me. I will probably watch it at least two or three times more this semester, especially on those long Sunday overnights. (Although for this Sunday I’m going to find Short Circuit.)

Last semester I had Twelve Hour Tuesdays, but this year, because I have work in the mornings, I have 13.5 hour Tuesdays.

Luckily a lot of it is downtime that I can spend in the union on the wifi.

Other than that though, really tired right now. 13.5 hour Tuesday completely kicked my ass. I was originally going to do my laundry tonight, but because I want to be not-dead tomorrow, I really do just need to sleep.

Sometimes I try to deny it, but I do have a few silly little things that I suppose would be considered addictions. I’m terrible at going any amount of time without being able to check my e-mail, and so I decided I might go ahead and check out the wi-fi reception in the new expansion to the Student Union. Little did I know that I would be very, very, very disappointed.

The question that this poses for me is whether or not there is any place in the union I can still get my fix of wifi (and with luck, a little bit of electricity to juice up the ThinkPad.) If no, then I may have to resign myself to being the wonderful guy nearly living in the School of Communication building.

In theory I could do things without the Internet, although I don’t see any reason I should be using this down-time for anything too crazy, like productivity or anything.

Luckily I have now found an area where there is a reliable wireless connection, and I’m able to access the NAU VPN. It’s not in the cool new area, but it has a very comfortable couch.

After a hellacious, but successful Move-In Weekend campaign at work, it’s time for the likes of me to return to classes. I am pretty excited at the opportunity, because I desperately want to do anything other than work right now.

So after my shift this morning at 8 a.m., I get to head back toward North Campus for the four classes that make up THIRTEEN AND A HALF HOUR TUESDAY this semester.

Epic.
